Day 1 Arrival – Medan
Upon your arrival at the airport, a private transfer will take you to your first hotel located in the heart of Medan.

Day 2 Transfer to Tangkahan
This morning you’ll set out on a scenic 5-hour drive to the small village of Tangkahan. Tangkahan exists on the border of Gunung Leuser National Park and is a picturesque village brimming with authentic culture and charm. It is situated at the junction of 2 rivers, the Buluh River and the Batang River also adding to the scenery. Tangkahan specializes in eco-tourism activities like jungle trekking and Elephant trekking, both of which you can try while here.

Day 3 Bathe with Elephants and Jungle Trek in Gunung Leuser National Park
After breakfast this morning it’s time to join the mahouts as they bathe the elephants in the river beneath the bright morning sun. Enjoy this special encounter with one of nature’s most majestic creatures and have some fun in the water alongside them. Once they are finished, then your turn. The

Day 4 Tangkahan – Bukit Lawang
This morning you’ll set out on the road following a delicious breakfast to make the journey to Bukit Lawang. This small village, around 90km northwest of Medan, is situated along the picturesque Bohorok River and is the gateway to the Gunung Leuser National Park.

Day 5 Tangkahan
Enjoy another relaxed breakfast this morning before getting picked up from your hotel to set out on a stroll along the river. Next, you’ll hop in a canoe for a short paddle to the opposite riverbank. Then it’s time to lace up your shoes for a short hike to an incredible viewpoint where you can spot an array of wildlife, including swinging orangutans if you’re lucky!
With your expert local guide, depart from the viewpoint, to walk deeper into Gunung Leuser National Park where you’ll experience the beauty of the tropical rainforest. This jungle walk will introduce you to a variety of jungle inhabitants including gibbons, thomas leaf monkeys, longtail and pigtail macaques, flying squirrels, and majestic orangutans! Along the way your guide will explain teach you about the various species you encounter and also about the medicinal plant life that abounds here.

Get ready for your morning flight from Medan to Aceh today! Upon your arrival at Aceh Airport, you will be picked up and transferred to the Aceh harbour. Hop on board as the boat sets sail for Pulau Weh where you’ll find your next hotel. Pulau Weh is a small slice of beach and jungle that is nothing short of paradise.
