Salzburg and the Ten Lakes Cycling Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Salzburg
After arriving in Salzburg, you will meet up for information on the tour and a bike fitting. Afterward, you will have the opportunity to explore Salzburg, before settling in for the night ahead of a big day of cycling.

Day 2 Cycle to the Trumer Seen Lakes and Wallersee
Today, you will cycle along the Salzach to Oberndorf (birthplace of the Christmas carol “Silent Night”), Arnsdorf (the “Silent Night” Museum), Michaelbeuern (abbey), and further on into the Trumer Seen lakes country (Lake Obertrumer See, Lake Mattsee, Lake Grabensee) and partly also to Lake Wallersee. A shorter, direct version is also possible, but if you can handle the ride it is very scenic!

Day 3 Travel to Irrsee and Mondsee
On the third day, the tour will take you through the nature reserve of the Egelseen Lakes to Schleedorf, which has a working village and cheese-maker. Later, you will continue to the idyllic Lake Irrsee. Overnight stay in Mondsee.

Day 4 Bike through the Aurachtal Valley to Traunsee
The day begins with either a boat trip to Weyregg (if your trip is in July or August) or a cycling trip along Lake Attersee. Afterwards, you will cycle through the Aurachtal Valley to Lake Traunsee with Gmunden (castle Orth, ceramics factory), Altmünster (bicycle museum), and Traunkirchen (“Fishermen’s Pulpit”) as highlights. Overnight in Altmunster.

Day 5 Travel to St Gilgen
From Bad Ischl (Emperor’s Park, Emperor’s Villa, Empress Sissi’s Teahouse) you will cycle along the Ischler Ache river to Lake Wolfgangsee. Along the way, you will come through places such as St. Wolfgang (White Horse Inn, parish church, cog railway on to the Schafberg), Strobl, Lake Abersee (Zinkenbachklamm gorge) and St. Gilgen – the Mozart village on Lake Wolfgangsee.

Day 6 Return to Salzburg
On the seventh day of the tour, you will follow the cycle route through St. Gilgen and on to the deep blue Fuschlsee. From there, you will pass by the Hintersee and the Strubklamm Gorge, making your way into the Wiestal Valley. You will pass through the Glasenbachklamm and into the Salzachtal valley, before making the approach to Salzburg.
Shortly before reaching Salzburg, it is worth visiting the castle Schloss Hellbrunn, which has a park, zoo, and water games if you are so inclined. Your destination is the festival and Mozart city of Salzburg with its numerous attractions, such as the fortress and historic old town.

Day 7 Departure Day
After enjoying one last breakfast, you will pack up your things for an individual departure and say ‘auf wiedersehen’ to Salzburg.
