Mountain bike to the top of Kilimanjaro Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Moshi
Get picked up from the Kilimanjaro airport or any other arrival point by a guide, who will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. On this day, you will get all the necessary information and trip preparations. You can spend the remaining hours of the day exploring Moshi or resting!

Day 2 Cycle to Marangu Village
After breakfast, you will head to the start of the tour in Moshi, where you will receive all the necessary information and preparations for the climb. Your first day of the trip will take you toward Marangu village. On the way, you will travel deep through the villages and experience the life of the Chagga people, the third biggest tribe in Tanzania. Overnight will be arranged in Marangu village.

Day 3 Bike to Kilema Camp
In the morning, a car will transfer you from Marangu Village to Marangu gate, where you will sort through permit registrations. You will also meet your mountain crew, who will join you on your Kilimanjaro climb. Then, from Marangu gate, you will be transferred to the Kilema gate, the starting point for climbing Kilimanjaro by bike in Kilimanjaro National Park. You will bike through a vast green rainforest with many plant species, birds, and animals. Finally, the ride will end in Kilema camp at 2,980 meters, where you will stay overnight in tents inside the camp area. You will spend 70% of the day cycling.

Day 4 Head to Horombo Camp
Today the ride will take you through Kilimanjaro’s semi-tropical foothills and then on a steep path to the Horombo camp at 3700 meters high. From there, you will have a beautiful view of Kilimanjaro with its two peaks, two brothers, Mawenzi and Kibo. You will stay in the camp overnight. You will spend 75% of the day cycling.

Day 5 Acclimatize at Horombo
Spend the day getting used to the altitude! After breakfast, you will ride through the Alpine desert to the Mawenzi Hut and then back to Horombo camp for the night. You will spend 90% of the day cycling.

Day 6 Cycle to Kibo Base Camp
Your ride begins after breakfast! You will pass the Senecio garden with the endemic tree species and continue through the Alpine desert. The path goes in the middle of the two peaks, Kibo and Mawenzi, making this route very scenic. At the Kibo Base Camp, you will have a summit briefing for all information regarding the rest of the climb. Then, you will have time to rest in the afternoon. Spend 90% of the day cycling.

Day 7 Go to the summit
This part of the route starts in the middle of the night with a zig-zag trek climbing along the slopes. It will take approximately 2 hours to reach Hans Meyer’s Cave, and the gradient gets steeper from here. The climb continues for another 3 hours to Gilman’s point, where we will take our bike from porters and start riding on the crater ring to the summit – Uhuru Peak. From here, you can see the glaciers of Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, and the beautiful lands of Tanzania and parts of Kenya. At the summit, you can choose if you prefer to continue riding your bicycle or walking, according to your health condition and suggestions from the guide. On the way down, we will stop at the Kibo base camp for brunch and continue to the Horombo camp. Expect to cycle 20% – 80% from Kibo to Uhuru and then Kibo. Then, Kibo to Horombo is 80% cycling.

Day 8 Reach Moshi
After the night of rest and breakfast, you will make your final ride across the moorland and rainforest to Kilema gate. From there, you will be transferred to Marangu gate for check out and then to your hotel. Driving back from Kilema gate to Moshi with the bicycle is optional.

Day 9 Departure
You will be able to sleep and rest well in your hotel. Transfer from the hotel to the airport or another place of departure from Moshi will be organized for you.
