Day 1 Arrival in Ponta Delgada

Check in into your hotel in São Miguel Island. Depending on the time of day, you can either settle in for the evening or set out to explore.

Day 2 Pico da Vara Hiking Tour

After breakfast in your hotel, you will be picked up at 9 AM for an incredible hike that will take you to the highest point on São Miguel Island. While out on your hike, you will visit one of the islands two nature reserves and take in the natural beauty of the plant life that is endemic to the island.

Day 3 Whale Watching and Lagoa do Fogo Van Tour

Today you will set out on a whale and dolphin watching expedition, where you will have the chance to view more than 25 cetacean species, as well as turtles, seabirds and other marine life. Before the boat trip, biologists will provide a briefing on which cetacean species can be observed, how we respect the animals and rules of observation at sea, historical facts of the region, and safety measures aboard.

Back on land, you will set out on another van tour where you will be able to see the beauty of the Nature Reserve of Fogo. During this tour you will witness volcanic activity, bathe in the natural warm waters of Fogo volcano, and learn more about the electricity production in Sao Miguel.

Day 4 Jeep Tour to Sete Cidades

Day 4 of the tour will see you undertake an active adventure that combines dirt paths with kayak and bicycle activities at Lagoa das Sete Cidades. To make it even more of an adventure, you will be able to enjoy this wonderful landscape from a different perspective while driving in a jeep!

On the tour you will be taken to the top of the Sete Cidades Caldera, stopping at some points of interest such as Pico do Carvao, Pico da Cruz, and the Lomba do Vasco viewpoint along the way. A small stop will be made in the center of Sete Cidades village, followed by the famous viewpoint of Vista do Rei.

Day 5 Ribeira dos Caldeirões Canyoning

After waking up bright and early, you will be picked up at your hotel at 7:45 AM to explore Ribeira dos Caldeirões in Nordeste, a beautiful region in the northeast of São Miguel that is protected.

Here, you will hike uphill along the trail before taking part in a thrilling abseiling adventure that will take you through the lush rainforest environment alongside a stream that flows from the top of the mountain!

Day 6 Van Tour in Furnas

Day 6 of the tour will explore the volcanic origins of the island in Dimas, a magical place full of geothermal activity. After the pick up in Ponta Delgada at 9 am, your van tour will take you to visit a local tea factory before reaching the viewpoint over Furnas: Pico do Ferro. Afterwards, you will make your way to the Caldeiras das Fumas to visit the famous fumaroles and taste mineral waters from different springs.
