Day 1 Arrive to Gijón
Welcome to Gijón, the most populated city in Asturias! It is worth getting lost in its old town and enjoying its Plaza Mayor, the Jovellanos House Museum, the San Pedro church and the Revillagigedo Palace.

Day 2 First Walk to Avilés
Wave goodbye to Gijón this morning and embark on your first walk on the Camino del Norte. You’ll enter a green and rural landscape today as you continue the trail that weaves its way through small towns like Pavierna and Santa Eulalia. The rest of the route follows the course of the Ría de Avilés to reach tonight’s destination.

Day 3 Walk to Cudillero
A longer stage today paves the way to Cudillero. Set out and head towards the coast in Salinas, before returning inland. Several rivers cross your path this afternoon, as you make your way to Muros de Nalón. As soon as you pass the river here, you’ll head inland again until you reach the coast in Cudillero. Cudillero is a beautiful fishing village where you can enjoy a delicious local meal before settling in for the night.

Day 4 Walk to Ballota
Return to the trail this morning as you walk towards Soto de Luiña. The second section of todays’ walk unfolds near the coast with beautiful green landscapes on a fairly flat well-marked trail. You’ll pass numerous cities and can scope out the impressive beaches that dot the trail.

Day 5 Walk to Luarca
Be prepared to soak up endless views of beautiful beaches and towering cliffs today, as you first set off towards Cadavevo. It is a fairly quiet and easy stage today as you pop into and out of small towns such as San Cristóbal and Querúa. Today’s destination, Luarca is a smalling fishing village.

Distance: 6 hours, 23.7km

Day 6 Walk to Navia
The first few kilometers from Luarca this morning lead you on a moderate ascent. You’ll then cross the Barayo River and descend to Villapedre. Continue, as you cross numerous cities and spend a large part of the route near a national road. Nevertheless, th e rivers will continue to be your travel companions today as you continue your pilgrimage towards Navia

Day 7 Final Hike to Ribadeo
Today’s stage begins with a choice: Tol or Tapias de Casariego? The Tapias de Casariego option takes you along the coast, while Tol leads you inland. Both routes well see you welcomed into the arms of Galicia by the end of this stage where your Camino del Norte concludes!
