Day 1 Arrival in Alba
Right in the centre of Piedmont wine country, the “city of a thousand towers” welcomes you with medieval history and can’t-miss sightseeing. Make sure to try the famous peaches, hazelnuts, and plentiful pastries before exploring ancient Roman remains, including the original fortified gate and marbled edifices.

Day 2 Walk to Barolo
The first stop of the Piedmont Barolo and Barbera wine country tour is La Morra, a lovely hilltop village with several wine tasting opportunities. Views extend all the way to the snow-capped peak of Mt. Monviso. The Ratti Museum is a worthwhile visit, with exhibits showcasing the interesting history of Italian wine. Cantina Comunale is a perfect spot to sample and buy bottles while you learn about gastronomy and wine pairing. The walk can be shortened by about 4 km when starting in Verduno instead of Roddi.

Day 3 Wine museum and Monforte d’Alba
Today, the wine capital of Barolo awaits! The newly opened WiMu Wine Museum is a perfect place to learn about and try some of the region’s finest wines. Plenty of trattorias offer great options for lunch before walking through picturesque vineyards to Monforte d’Alba.

Day 4 Walk through the forests to Cissone
Walking through dense hazelnut forests and woods leads you to a very old, historic hamlet called Serralunga d’Alba. Enjoy the peace of the woods before continuing up to Cissone.

Day 5 Cissone loop walk

You are provided all the information on which direction you need to go daily. You don’t need to carry lots of things with you and can only carry your daypack, as your luggage will be picked up from your hotel daily in the morning and delivered to your destination hotel.
It is recommended that you fly into Turin (TRN) or Milan (LIN/MXP). From Turin, you can reach Alba directly by train. Check this website for train schedules. From Milan, you can reach Alba by train, although the route is not direct. Check this website for information on travelling from the airport to the train station.
