Is this tour for me?
We rate this tour as a 5 / 5. The Marangu route does not require any technical climbing skill but does have some steep stretches with difficult footing. The altitude of this trek can pose a significant challenge as the air is quite thin. Fit hikers with experience hiking at higher altitudes have the highest chance of success.

Want to take on Mount Kilimanjaro but unsure of the best way? There is a lot to love about taking this guided trek up the Marangu route in 6 days! The “Coca-Cola” route is popular for its comfortable mountain huts and the convivial atmosphere at camp. The majority of the trail is on wide paths that aren’t too steep, so it’s an excellent way to get adjusted to the high altitude.
Trekking this route in 6 days instead of 5 will not only help your body adjust to the thin air but will give you more time to relax in preparation for the very challenging final ascent to the peak. You’ll also have plenty of time to explore the landscape and even take a quick hike by Mawenzi Peak if you’re feeling energetic. Your guides, porters and cooks will take good care of you to ensure you are prepared for the challenging trek from Kibo hut up to the summit of Uhuru Peak. If you’re going to climb Kilimanjaro, this could be the perfect way to do it!
