7-Day Walking Tour of the Curonian Spit Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Klaipeda
Once you arrive in Klaipeda, you’ll be taken to your hotel to settle in. Take a walk around the town or enjoy a welcome drink with your guide if you chose the guided tour.

Day 2 Klaipeda to Smiltyne Loop Walk
Begin your adventure with a pickup from the hotel in the morning, heading directly to the old ferry terminal. After a short ferry ride from Klaipeda to Smiltyne, you will walk a loop along the northernmost part of the Curonian Spit. On the way, you’ll pass ethnographic fishermen’s farmsteads and old ships’ grounds as well as the sea museum and aquarium. You will walk on both sides of the Curonian Spit today, seeing both the lagoon coast and the Baltic Sea coast.

Day 3 Hiking in Juodkrante
After breakfast, drive to Juodkrante for another hiking day. You’ll walk around Amber Bay, learning about the local flora and fauna and seeing the craftsmanship of local artists in the weathervane gallery.
Walk through a glorious old forest, cresting the Hill of Witches to learn about the folklore of this place. Watch for the cormorant colony here- it’s the largest in Europe! In the evening, you can relax at the local beach.

Day 4 Pervalka to Preila
After breakfast, head to the Grey Dunes, hiking another picturesque trail in the Nagliai Nature Reserve. Meander south along the coast of the Curonian lagoon to Preila. Before entering Pervalka village you can have a picnic lunch in front of the smallest lighthouse in Lithuania, which is also one of the most picturesque places in all of the Curonian lagoon area.

Day 5 Preila to Nida
Today you’ll walk from Preila to Nida, visiting Vecekrugas, the highest dune in the Curonian Spit, for 360-degree views. Hiking along the undulating hills, you’ll get pretty glimpses of the countryside on each hilltop.
Make sure to stop at the Nida civil airfield where you can walk on a real runway.

Day 6 Enjoying Nida
For your final walking day, you’ll enjoy the beauty of Nida at a leisurely pace. Visit the town centre, the Parnidis dune, and the stunning lighthouse. When you’re done walking, you’ll be able to lay back by the Baltic Sea and soak up some sun.

Day 7 Departure
Getting up off the sand in Nida is going to be hard, but it’s your final day of the tour. You can opt for a transfer back to Vilnius or Klaipeda or book some additional days here if you’d like more time.

You can fly into the Vilnius Airport (VNO) and either take a taxi to your hotel or book a transfer as a supplement. You can also fly into the Palanga Airport (PLQ) and book your own transfer to Klaipeda.
