Amazon Birdwatching Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Iquitos
Your transfer will meet you at the airport in Iquitos or at your hotel. You’ll spend the afternoon visiting the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve, where your guides will help you spot several species of birds that are only known to live in this unique forest.
You might be lucky enough to spot birds including the Ancient Antwren, Mishana Tyrannulet, Allpahuayo Antbird, Northern Chestnut-tailed Antbird, Pompadour Cotinga, and Saffron-crested Tyrant Manakin.
After the excitement, its back to the hotel for dinner.

Day 2 Morning Birdwatching and Boat Ride up the Amazon
This morning on your Amazon expedition you’ll take another bird viewing trip into the Allpahuayo Mishana Reserve. Kep your eyes to the skies to see what species you’ll run into today!
In the afternoon you’ll take the four-hour boat ride up the river to the wilderness lodge on the Tahuayo tributary. Relax here for the night, enjoying the hum of the surrounding forest.

Day 3 Discover the Bird Species in Paraiso
Good morning, jungle! Today, your guides will take you out for a full day of birding on the islands near the entrance of the Tahuayo tributary.
During the day you’ll be looking for sandpipers, herons, terns, skimmers, stilts, and plovers. You’ll stay on the river until the evening for a chance to see the nocturnal birds that live on the shoreline.

Day 4 Visit Two Different Bird Ecosystems
The wooden wilderness lodge that you’re staying at is perched on the edge of the varzea forest. In the morning you’ll be exploring this habitat with your guides. The biodiversity right outside of your door is truly astounding.
In the afternoon you’ll head out to visit the secondary growth ecosystems that surround the local villages. Then, it’s back to the lodge to relax for the evening.

Day 5 Birdwatch in the Flooded Forest and Oxbow Lake
Your morning Amazon birdwatching excursion will be in the tahuampa ecosystem, which is the flooded forest. The list of critters you could run into out here is nearly endless.
In the afternoon you’ll take a trip to “cocha”, or Oxbow Lake, to watch for the birds in the area. Enjoy the warmth and stillness of the water while you watch.

Day 6 Birding in a New Rainforest Environment
Today you’ll leave the flooded ecosystems behind and take a trip to the terra firme forest. Here you’ll spend the entire day birdwatching in the forest with solid ground.

Day 7 Remote Research Lodge Birding
You’ll take an early morning birdwatching excursion today, exploring the Palmichal Stream.
Then, continue birdwatching up the Tahuayo River. Tonight you will be arriving at your new accommodations at the remote research lodge. Settle in and review all the birds and other animals you’ve been able to enjoy up to now.

Day 8 Dolphin Lake
Today you will explore high and low forests. Your day will continue with spotting new bird species in palm swamp forest and finish your afternoon with an unforgettable time at Dolphin Lake.

Day 9 Trip to Lake Yarina
Today, take a lovely trip to Lake Yarina, where you’ll spend the entire day birdwatching with your guides. Enjoy how the calm of the lake and scenery contrasts with the activity of the local birds and wildlife.
Afterwards, enjoy dinner at the lodge before bed.

Day 10 Morning Birdwatching and Boat Ride up the Amazon
