Day 1 Arrive
Your tour begins at a charming neo-colonial hotel in Villanueva. The hotel was originally built in 1908 (since restored) by wealthy emigrants returning from Las Americas—the style of the hotel is known locally as Casona de Indiano.
If the hotel’s history has piqued your interest, check out the museum in the Quinta Guadalupe in Colombres.

Day 2 Cycle the Villanueva Circuit
Your first day on wheels begins with a beautiful 40-kilometre ride through undulating hills along the border that straddles Cantabria and Asturias.
Several optional detours are available today to add to the circular base route. Choose to visit Pechón beach, the prehistoric caves of Cueva del Pindal, or the Romanesque ruins of Santa Tina church.

Day 3 Cross the Dark Valley Cycling from Villanueva to Llanes
Today’s route is serene, offering the perfect opportunity to get lost in nature and revel in the tranquil green Asturian countryside.
Crossing the Dark Valley (La Borbolla), you’re bound for the coastline today, where you’ll pick up the Senda de la Costa route, leading you to Llanes. Pristine beaches flank the route, and a refreshing outdoor swimming pool awaits you at your hotel just outside Llanes, where you can unwind after an exciting day on your bike.

Day 4 Cycle Rolling Hills from Llanes to Nueva de Llanes
Rolling green hills pave the route from Llanes to Nueva de Llanes this morning. Along the way, you’ll pass several beautiful beaches, perfect for a quick paddle to refresh the legs before continuing the route.
Highlights of the route include the ethnographic museum in Porrúa and the ornate church at Niembro. You’ll then arrive in the market village of Posada, and from here, there are two route options.
Option 1:
Follow the Camino del Norte via Naves and Villahormes. This route ends at your accommodations in Nueva.
Option 2:
Cycle inland, embarking on a steep ascent via Rales. This route ends at your accommodations in Nueva.
If today’s beautiful route has got you wanting more, there is an option to continue another 4 kilometres from your accommodations to Cuevas del Mar beach.

Day 5 Cycle the Camino del Norte to Colunga
Today, you’ll follow the delicate trail of blue and yellow painted shells that mark the path of the Camino del Norte as you ride to Colunga.
Colunga is home to the Jurassic Museum, where you can spend the afternoon in the impressive company of several extinct dinosaurs’ skeletal remains. Be sure to check it out!

Day 6 Cycle from Colunga to Argüero via Villaviciosa and Tázones
Today, you’ll be introduced to a local specialty that will delight the senses. Once an important rest point for pilgrims on their way to Santiago, Villaviciosa is the proud center of apple cider production in Asturias. Cross the town and be sure to stop for a delicious cup of this local product before continuing via Tázones to Argüero.
Tázones is famous for its delicious seafood. Enjoy the freshest fish straight from the sea to your plate this evening.
