Day 1 Arrive
Your Catalonia Family Cycling Adventure begins with a transfer from Flaça train station to your accommodations in La Pera.
Get settled into your accommodations and soak in the beautiful scenery that surrounds you with the Gavarres massif as your beautiful backdrop and a nearby beach, you’ll receive a warm welcome here, courtesy of Catalonia’s stunning natural beauty.

Day 2 Cycle the Villages of the Baix Empordà
Today, the beauty of the Baix Empordà will rope you into its pleasant ambience as you cycle traditional villages and spectacular landscapes.
Your route, peppered with crop gardens and enchanting Mediterranean woods, will guide you through the lovely medieval village centers of Monells and Madremanya.
Opt to visit the castle museum in Pubol, Salvador Dalí’s former residence, which he dedicated to his beloved wife Gala.
If you prefer a shorter route to begin your cycling adventure, take a short cut to cut today’s distance down to 17 kilometres.

Day 3 Cycle Vast Farmland to Peratallada
The route begins with a short climb through pretty woods before continuing on flat terrain enveloped in picturesque hilltop villages.
Fresh country air and beautiful wide-open farmland characterize the rest of your ride as you cruise to Peratallada.
Tonight, you’ll be spoiled for choice, as Peratallada is home to 13 excellent restaurants serving regional specialties and spectacular local wines (for travellers over 18).

Day 4 Cycle the Daro River Delta and Medieval Villages
Today’s route has plenty in store as you set out on quiet, flat, tarmac lanes through the Daro River delta, an area home to vast swamps, rice fields, and snaking irrigation channels.
Several lovely hilltop villages will dot your path, as well as a few welcoming beaches, perfect for a pit-stop to stretch out on the sand and rest the legs. Fontclara and Gualta are excellent villages to visit for a peruse and a bite before continuing the route.
Next up, the wetlands of Les Basses d’en Coll, a beautiful nature reserve home to a myriad of fascinating birds.

Day 5 Explore the Costa Brava
The beautiful coastal region of Costa Brava is yours to explore today. A scenic ride along quiet country lanes sets the tone as you first ride to Calella de Palafrugell, an idyllic fishing village on the coast. Head down to the beachfront for lunch at one of the lovely sea view restaurants, soaking up some beachy rays in the process.
Later, stop and smell the roses on a visit to the beautiful botanical gardens of Cap Roig this afternoon before heading back to Peratalla.

Day 6 Cycle Pretty Woodlands to Sant Pere Pescador
North of Peratallada lies a beautiful section of charming woodlands, and your route today takes you right through them. Along the way, you’ll pass a fascinating ancient Iberian settlement perched on a hilltop with archeological wonders to explore. The settlement also grants sensational views of the countryside in all directions.
Further north on the route, you’ll pass the base of the mighty El Montgri massif, a breathtaking sight.
A final stretch along the coast will guide you through a former Greek colony and a small Roman village before navigating gravel tracks through a scenic nature reserve to Sant Pere Pescador, your home for the next two nights.

Day 7 Visit Figueres, the Dalí Museum, and Aiguamolls Natural Park
Figueres, a village whose name is indistinguishable from Salvador Dalí himself, is the first stop on today’s exciting route. Enjoy a fascinating visit to the surrealist painter’s museum followed by a pleasant stroll along the town’s pedestrian-only street, soaking up the sights and sounds of the lively village.
Back on your bike, you’ll trace the Muga River to Castello d’Empuries, another fascinating medieval town ripe for exploring.
Your final ride is doused in greenery as you navigate the gorgeous paths of Aiguamolls de l’Emporda Natural Park, wetlands home to a seasonal waterbird colony.
