Chamonix to Zermatt Trekking Tour: Stage 2 Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in the Arolla Valley
Make your way to the hamlet of Villa in the Arolla Valley, where you will meet at 9am for a departure briefing and to load your personal belongings, which will follow you during your trip.
Afterward, you will ease into your hiking adventure on a route towards the Col Torrent at 2,916 m (9,570 ft). Here you will enjoy a magnificent view over the Pennine Alps from the col, before embarking on the descent to the Lac de Moiry via the Lac des Autannes.

Distance: 6h, 1250m elevation gain

Day 2 Trek from Lac de Moiry to the Turtmannhütte
After an early morning transfer to the Zinal valley, you will set off to climb up to the Col de la Forcletta at 2,874 m (9,430 ft). This marks the passage into the Turtmann valley, which is undoubtedly the most unspoilt valley in the canton of Valais!
You will then descend through alpine meadows, before making a final ascent to the Turtmannhütte refuge, where you will be surrounded by wonderful mountain views.

Distance: 8h, 1700m elevation gain

Day 3 Traverse the 3,343m Schöllijoch Pass
Today you will set off for an ascent of the highest pass on this trek between Chamonix and Zermatt: Schöllijoch Pass. At an elevation of 3,343 m (10,970 ft), the pass is situated in a rocky setting at the gateway to the high mountains. If weather conditions permit, you may have the chance to climb the Barrhorn (3,610 m / 11,845 ft) from here. After traversing the pass, you head into the Zermatt Valley to reach the Topalihütte refuge.

Day 4 Trek to Randa
Day 4 of the tour will see you cross the serene valley landscape beneath the Bishorn and Weisshorn peaks, which tower above you at over 4,000 m (13,125 ft). Afterwards, you will descend into Randa where you will spend the night.

Day 5 Climb up to the Täschhütte Refuge
After breakfast, you will cross the valley to reach a magnificent traverse that offers fabulous panoramic views of the many peaks over 4,000 m (13,125 ft) in the area. From here, you will embark on a climb up to the Täschhütte refuge, where you will spend one last night in a spectacular mountain setting.

Day 6 Trek to Zermatt and Departure
On the last day of your magnificent mountain adventure, you will retrace your steps to the Europaweghütte. From here, you will set out on the path to Zermatt along a route that takes you through a picturesque setting surrounded by the peaks over 4,000 m (13,125 ft) in the area. You will arrive in Zermatt on foot in the early afternoon to enjoy the surroundings, before making your individual departure from the town.
