Chic-Choc Mountains Self-Drive Itinerary
Day 1 Start Your Journey to the Mountains
This morning, you’ll take a regional flight from Quebec City to Mont-Joli. Take a taxi from the airport to Cap-Chat, where you’ll meet your transfer vehicle and get a ride on snow tracks to the Chic-Choc Mountain Inn. The journey to the lodge will take your breath away as you travel through the beautiful mountains to your home nestled in the wild hills.

Day 2 Discover the Mountain
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll be given a short introductory course on the equipment available for use during your stay and a briefing on mountain safety. Then, you have the whole day to explore the Matane Wildlife Reserve. Take a guided walk with a naturalist to learn about the local wildlife and how to track them in the winter. Later, you can try out the snowshoes, cross-country skis, or go hiking through the snowy woods.

Day 3 Backcountry Adventures
During your stay, you’ll want to take advantage of the incredible skiing possibilities. Go on an epic backcountry cross-country ski adventure or enjoy the powder on the amazing downhill routes. There are nice beginner trails and challenging descents for the seasoned skier. The lodge also has META skis (short, fat skis for backcountry use) if you’re a fan or want to try out something new!

Day 4 Play in the Winter Wonderland
You have another amazing day to enjoy this wonderful snowy playground. Choose your favourite sport or relax at the lodge and enjoy the tranquility while you watch the snowfall.

Day 5 Final Morning in the Mountains
You have enough time this morning to strap on your skis once more or to take a final hike through the silent forest. After lunch, the transfer will take you to Cap-Chat, where you can take a taxi to Mont-Joli for your return flight to Quebec City. Once you’re back in the city, you can take a cab into town and enjoy one of the amazing restaurants that offer authentic French-Canadian cuisine.

Day 6 Tour Concludes
Take advantage of your time before your flight to visit the enchanting fort city of Quebec. This UNESCO World Heritage site has so much to explore, from the battlefields at the Plains of Abraham to the Citadel, and the shops and restaurants in the historic Old Quebec. If one morning is not enough, you can choose to add additional nights to extend your time in Quebec City before beginning your journey home.

This tour is based on hotel and lodge accommodations. Your Quebec City hotel will be standard 3-star and offer modern amenities and a convenient location. During your stay in the mountains, you’ll stay in a rustic 18-room lodge that encourages you to disconnect and embrace the wilderness.
In some cases, the accommodation listed below may need to be substituted for other comparable accommodations.

Fly into Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB). You’ll need to book a flight from Quebec City to Mont-Joli Regional Airport (YYY). From Mont-Joli, you’ll take a taxi to meet your transfer to the hotel in Cap-Chat.
The instructions and guided walks will be operated in both English and French.
This tour officially ends in Quebec City; however, you will need to book a flight from Mont-Joli to Quebec City for your final night of the tour.
There is no need to rent equipment as the winter snow equipment is included. You’ll have free use of trekking poles, snowshoes, alpine skis, cross-country skis, and META skis during your stay.
It is not necessary to bring your own equipment; however, please request at the time of booking to see if the transfer vehicles can accommodate.
