Classic Inca Trail Private Trek Itinerary
Day 1 Our Inca Trail Adventure Begins
At 4:30 a.m., the adventure starts with a transfer to Piscacucho (Km 82), where the Inca Trail begins. After crossing the Vilcanota River, the trek passes through the cloud forest, offering views of the Inca fortress Huillca Raccay and Patallacta ruins. Ascend to the scenic Urubamba mountain range and admire the snow-capped W’akay Willca peak before setting up camp near Wayllabamba.
Overnight Location: Ayapata Camp
Distance: 11 km (6-7 hours approx.)
Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Day 2 Into the Sacred Mountains
A 5:30 a.m. wake-up leads to the most challenging day, ascending to the highest point of the trail, Dead Woman’s Pass. After resting and taking in the stunning views, descend to the lunch stop at Pacaymayu. The second ascent leads to the Runkurakay pass, where camp is set for the night.

Distance: 12 km (6-7 hours approx.)

Day 3 The Inca Trail to Wiñay Wayna
After breakfast, trek gently uphill to Phuyupatamarca, “The City Above the Clouds,” with its stunning views and Inca baths. Continue descending along Inca steps to reach Intipata’s agricultural terraces. Arrive at Wiñay Wayna by lunch, with time to explore the archaeological site nearby.

Distance: 16 km (8 hours approx.)

Day 4 The End of the Inca Trail and Arrival at Machu Picchu
Wake early for the final stretch, walking 1.5 hours to the Sun Gate (Intipunku) for the first sunrise view of Machu Picchu. Enjoy a guided two-hour tour of the iconic archaeological site before descending to Aguas Calientes. After lunch, take the train back to Poroy and continue to Cusco.

Accommodation on Classic Inca Trail Private Trek
This tour includes the accommodation for three nights along the Inca Trail that are spent in camps. Sleeping bags and inflatable mattresses are not included but can be rented during the booking process.
In some cases, the accommodation listed below may need to be substituted for other comparable accommodations.

Yes, it is mandatory to have health and medical insurance to join this trip, and your insurance should cover hiking. Get your travel insurance.
Fly to Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport in Cusco. Many international flights will connect through Peru’s capital city of Lima. The flight from Lima to Cusco takes about 1 hour.
Don’t forget your passport (and visa if needed). Bring layers of clothing to keep you comfortable as you are hiking, as well as warm enough on cold nights. Please keep clothing lightweight. Rain gear is important to keep you dry and warm on rainy days. Sun protection is very important, especially at higher elevations. Sunblock, sunglasses, and a hat are recommended. You may also be glad to have insect repellent. Bring a backpack (preferably waterproof). Be sure you have sturdy shoes for hiking.
