Explore Cephalonia Island by Bike Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive on Cephalonia
Make your way to the gorgeous island of Cephalonia and await your transfer at the airport or bus station to be taken to Mousata. Here, you’ll meet with your guide to sort out your bike for the next week.
There’s no set itinerary for today, so feel free to relax or take your bike out for a test run around the hotel. Find yourself some flavourful snacks, which shouldn’t be hard since you’re in Greece now!

Day 2 Ride to Argostoli
Wake up and enjoy bed and breakfast service at your hotel before heading out for a half-day cycling excursion. Hop on your bike and head for the hills as you ascend to Argostoli, Cephalonia’s capital. On the way, you’ll pedal through typical Greek villages like Keramies, Metaxata, and Kourkoumetata. Practice your Greek as you ride through and wave to locals.
Reach Argostoli for a well-earned break on a seaside terrace, then continue along a ridge towards the south coast. You’ll ride along a dirt road, stop for a visit at the Monastery Agiou Andrea if you wish, then return to Mousata for the night.

Distance: 4 hours, 37km, 600m of ascent, 600m of descent

Day 3 Skala Circuit
Enjoy a lovely breakfast, then it’s time to head out. You have two options, and both will take you to the eastern part of the island. Whichever route you choose, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping sea views as you ride to Skala, a quaint seaside resort. You can also visit Katelios, a small fishing village with a sea turtle info centre.
Pedal your way back to Mousata as the sun sets and get a good night’s sleep.

Distance: 48 or 56km, 600–700m of ascent, 600–700m of descent

Day 4 Cycle to Agis Efimia
After breakfast, you will continue exploring the island and end in a new destination, Agis Efimia. Pedal past Myrtos Beach, an epic viewpoint, and keep going across the island through many charming villages, eventually descending to what will seem like a paradise with few houses hugging the rocky shores. Settle into your hotel and go for a dip in the crystal clear water.

Day 5 Explore Sami
Today will be full of adventure as you cycle to Sami and back. Start the excursion with a ride to Melissani Lake, where you can hop in a small kaiki (boat) for a quick paddle.
Continue on your bike through olive groves and vineyards—the quintessential Mediterranean landscapes you’ve been dreaming of. Stop in your choice of local villages for a coffee, then keep pedalling to the Drogarati Caves before hitting Sami and turning around. If you feel like it, pause and Andisamos Beach before returning to Agia Efimia.

Distance: 35km, 450m of ascent, 450m of descent

Day 6 Day Trip to Fiscardo
You have two options for today, and one will certainly be more challenging if you’re up for it. You’ll cycle to the northernmost village of Fiscardo, passing stunning sites along the way. Ride along a coastal road, admiring the magnificent, almost unbelievable views of the Ionian Sea. Make a loop around the island through many villages and return to Agia Efimia.

Day 7 Ride to Argostoli
On your final full day of this tour, you’re in for a treat! It’s a demanding day, but it will be worth it. First, you’ll ascend to Mt. Aenos, from where you’ll get breathtaking views of villages you’ve visited in days past. Pedal through a crucial area for Robola wine, a white wine originating in this region. Feel free to stop and have a glass!
After your stop at the winery, visit the nearby cathedral and monastery, then descend towards Argostoli for your last night.

Day 8 Farewell
In the morning, you have some time to explore Argostoli, visit the museum, or have a coffee in the main square. You’ll get a ride to the airport to check-in for your flight.

You can choose to rent a hybrid bike or an e-bike for an added supplement for this tour. The hybrid models will be either an Ideal Megisto or KTM Manhattan. For more leisurely riding, choose an e-bike, either Devron or Cube.
Self-guided travelling is not difficult! For many, it is a preferred type of travel, since you are in charge of your own time and pace. You are provided with all the information you’ll need to follow the route each day and often have access to phone support or other kinds of assistance.
