Day 1 Arrive in Italy and Transfer to Sappada
Upon your arrival at the Venice airport, you’ll be picked up for your transfer to your hotel in Sappada. Your first night in this charming village, you will meet your local hiking guide and indulge in an authentic pizza dinner at a local pizzeria.

Day 2 Begin your Hike up Monte Peralba
Your trek begins! Set out with your local guide and begin to hike the “Pista della marmotta” or “the groundhog trail” up Monte Peralba. Your trail will lead you to the Calvi Refuge, which has spectacular views out over the valley.
You can choose to either settle in for the night or take a short walk to see some WW1 memorials nearby.

Distance: 3.5 hours, 915m of elevation gain
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Day 3 Hike to Wolayerseehütte Refuge
Enjoy your breakfast at Calvi Refuge before heading out on your longest hike of the tour. Your guide will lead you along the trail that weaves through gorgeous forests and past cold mountain streams. You’ll have a fantastic view of Lake Bordaglia, which is home to a wildlife refuge for deer, chamois, eagles, martens and more.
After a long day of hiking, you’ll arrive at the lakeside Wolayerseehütte refuge, where you’ll settle in for the night.

Distance: 7-8 hours, 880m of ascent, 1030m of descent

Day 4 Mont Coglians and Honey and Cheese Tasting
This morning you can choose to take a 3-hour hike around Mount Rauchkofel on the Austrian side. You’ll have a picnic lunch at Lake Volaia before climbing the scenic ridge on Mont Coglians.
In the afternoon you’ll stop for a honey and cheese tasting from a local producer.
Overnight Location: Mountain hut (2120m)
Distance: 3.5 hours plus an optional 3 hours, 770m of ascent, 610m of descent

Day 5 Hike to Vuezzis
Enjoy the gorgeous scenery as you hike between the little mountain villages on your route. You’ll enjoy another picnic lunch today before you arrive in Vuezzis village.
This quaint village is nestled in the Degano Valley and is home to a 14th-century church and charming slate roof house. Get to know the locals over dinner before you turn in for the night.

Distance: 5-6 hours, 250m of ascent, 1370m of descent

Day 6 Hike Mount Talm
Today you’ll be guided through a beautiful beech forest and the village of Rigolato. You’ll be trekking up to the top of Mount Talm for your picnic lunch before you continue to the Chiampizzulon refuge. Enjoy the incredible views!

Distance: 5 hours, 970m of ascent, 230m of descent

Day 7 See Entralais Pass and Trek to Pesariis
Your trail this morning will lead you across the Pesarina Valley to the Entralais Pass. You’ll enjoy incredible panoramic views of the Carnic Alps from the pass before you continue to Pesariis.
You’ll be taken on a short tour of amazing clocks throughout this village, which specializes in clock making. Tonight you’ll celebrate your last night with a traditional dinner made from local produce.

Day 8 Return to Venice

This tour splits your accommodations between mountain huts with hostel-style layouts and 2 to 3-star hotels or B&Bs. The mountain huts are known as refuges. They are rustic but charming with shared accommodations. The hotels on this trip are clean and inviting with private rooms based on double occupancy.
In some cases, the accommodation listed below may need to be substituted for other comparable accommodations.
