La Dordogne Walking Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Belvès
On your arrival in Belvès, you will be welcomed at a charming hotel right in the centre of town. Depending on the time of your arrival, you will have time to experience the magic of this Medieval gem in the heart of the Dordogne. Wander through cobblestone streets, taste local delicacies in bustling markets, and dine in quaint bistros as the sun sets over nearby rolling hills.

Day 2 Circular Walk from Belvès
Your adventure begins right on the doorstep of your hotel this morning as you set out on a lovely circular walk through the countryside. After passing the ridge-top villages of Saint-Germain-de-Belvès and Cladech, you will descend into the valley through cultivated fields for views over the valley. Back at the hotel you will have time to relax and have a drink on a terrace in Belvès.

Day 3 Walk from Belvès to Cadouin
Rise and shine and enjoy a scrumptious breakfast before setting out on a relaxing walk to the medieval village of Cadouin. The village is constructed around a lording 12th-century Cistercian Abbey, which you’ll have the chance to explore.
Stroll through enchanting forests of oak, chestnuts and beech as you revel in the countryside, where in springtime, the fields will be blooming with wildflowers and beautiful orchids. Continue through lovely woods until you reach your B&B in Cadouin.

Day 4 Scenic Loop from Cadouin
Today you can do as much or as little walking as you please! It’s a free day to either relax on a terrace with a glass of wine and a good book or visit the Cistercian Abbey if you wish. For those wanting more of a structured walk, there is a 13km route through woodlands nearby.
Tonight you’ll dine at one of the fine local restaurants in Cadouin.

Day 5 Transfer to Montferrand-du-Périgord
Transfer this morning to Montferrand-du-Périgord, a honey-coloured village that is sure to charm. Today you’ll enjoy a walk along scenic paths flanked by wheat fields and beautiful woods, home to roe deer and wild boar. Your route will guide you to the 13th-century ‘bastide’ of Monpazier, the masterpiece of Edward I. Regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in all of France, your time here will be spectacular.

Day 6 Circular Walk from Monpazier
You may discover that the best was saved for last, as today might be the most beautiful day of the tour! Set out on a walking tour of Château Biron and be swept up in the ambience of this 16-the century hilltop castle.
As you walk, you’ll come to know why so many famous painters sought their inspiration in the pastoral landscapes of Perigord. Revel in the peaceful nature of the countryside as you complete the route and return to your hotel.
Tonight, a farewell dinner will be served outdoors in the hotel garden, where you’ll toast to a magical week of walking and say au revoir for now!
