Lake Neusiedl Bike Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Vienna
After arriving in Vienna, you will meet to gather some tour information and have a bike fitting. The imperial city can then be explored by bike. The famous Ringstraße with its splendid buildings such as the State Opera, Parliament, Burgtheater, City Hall, as well as the Hofburg Palace are considered the most magnificent examples of architecture. But also Kärntnerstraße, St. Stephens cathedral, and the quiet corners and alleyways of Old Vienna are worth seeing.
Overnight Location: Hotel in Vienna

Meals: None
Day 2 Cycle to the Old Spa Town of Baden
Your cycling adventure will begin close to the Danube Island and will take you on bike paths to Schönbrunn. After a sightseeing tour (not included in the tour price) you will first cycle to the city of Baden. The old spa town in the Vienna Woods can tell a long story. It is certainly no coincidence that here Beethoven completed his “Ninth” with the Ode to Joy. The famous Casino of Baden, the beautiful Roman spa and the thermal spa in the Art Deco style from 1926 with which the Viennese nobility once brought the Adriatic beach to Baden, are also worth seeing.
Overnight Location: Hotel in Baden bei Wien
Distance: 45 km
Meals: Breakfast
Day 3 Experience the Vineyards of Burgenland
Today you will leave Baden on beautiful bike paths and find yourself in a completely new landscape. The atmosphere at Europe’s westernmost steppe lake almost feels a little strange, since here, at the foothills of the Leithagebirge mountains, the Hungarian puszta starts.
You can visit Eisenstadt (Esterhazy Castle) and St. Margaret (Roman stone quarry) or other sightseeing destinations (not included in the tour price). The Burgenland wines of the region are world famous, and the towns of Rust and Mörbisch are probably the most charming wine towns in Burgenland.
Overnight Location: Hotel in Mörbisch
Distance: 55-60 km
Meals: Breakfast
Day 4 Bike Across the Austria-Hungary Border to Sopron
Via or from the festival town of Mörbisch, where the famous operetta festival takes place every summer on the atmospheric lake stage, the route leads through gentle vineyards with magnificent views across the lake to the Hungarian border. You soon reach the former town of Ödenburg, which has retained an old town centre that is well worth seeing. Today’s Sopron invites you to linger in its lively alleyways and beautiful squares. A beautiful cycle path leads back to Mörbisch/Rust through the charming lakeside landscape.
Overnight Location: Hotel in Mörbisch
Distance: 35/45 km
Meals: Breakfast
Day 5 Ferry Ride Across the Neusiedlersee to Illmitz
In the morning you will take a ferry to Illmitz, visiting the national park called “Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel”. It should be noted that here, as well as on the slopes of the west side, between Podersdorf, Illmitz and Apetlon in the flat plains of the vineyards, excellent quality wines are produced. Some Trockenbeerenauslese wines of this area enjoy an excellent reputation. The bike path will take you past wetlands, pastures and vineyards for some truly scenic views.
Overnight Location: Hotel in Jois
Distance: 50 km
Meals: Breakfast
Day 6 Rest Day
Day 6 of the tour is a time to relax and recover, with numerous leisure activities providing a lot of variety. The lake is a true paradise for sailors, surfers, and swimmers. Cyclists may want to ride their bikes around the lake on the pretty Kirschblütenweg cycle path.
Overnight Location: Hotel in Jois

Day 7 Experience Roman History on the Way to Bratislava
After your day of rest and relaxation, you will cycle via Rohrau (the birthplace of Joseph and Michael Haydn) into the “Roman Carnuntum”, where once upon a time the amber and the limes roads crossed (Haidentor – a huge triumphal monument). At the Open Air Museum Petronell, you can visit a faithfully reconstructed Roman urban quarter (not included in the tour price). The border town of Hainburg is located directly on the Danube, just a few kilometers from your final destination Bratislava. An evening stroll through the beautiful old town is a highly recommended activity.

Day 8 Departure Day
After breakfast you will pack your things for an individual departure from Bratislava, either heading to the airport or taking a transfer back to Vienna if you had previously arranged one.
