Southern Eyre Bird Watching Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Port Lincoln, Lipson Cove, and Mallee Scrub
Welcome to the beautiful Eyre Peninsula! You’re met at the Port Lincoln Airport. You’ll start your ornithology journey by travelling towards Port Neill where the group will look for many diverse sea birds on the eastern coast of the Eyre Peninsula. Along the way you’ll stop at known bird locations like Point Boston, on the lookout for Diamond Firetales and Rock Parrots, Louth Bay we look for the majestic Osprey and Kingfishers and in Tumby Bay we talk a short walk along the Mangrove Boardwalk for a selection of shorebirds, again more opportunities to spot the Osprey & White Bellied Sea Eagles. Heading off the main road and onto an access track you will stop at Rogers Beach before visiting a Crested Tern Colony at Lipson Cove. From here you will divert inland to Malle Scrub terrain where we find an assortment of Bush Birds and on the way home you will visit another unique location for ducks and waterbirds. A picnic lunch on the beach will provide an opportunity to stop and watch the birdlife.
On sunset, you will be transferred to your accommodation.

Day 2 Birdwatching in Eyre Peninsula
The day starts with a walk at Billy Lights Point to observe a diverse range of birds, followed by a visit to Big Swamp to view various ducks, stilts, plovers, and geese. Next, a 1.5-hour oyster cruise takes place in Coffin Bay, where visitors can learn about oyster farming and try fresh oysters. Lunch is at the Coffin Bay Oyster Bar, after which a visit to the Coffin Bay National Park is made, where visitors can see a variety of wildlife, take photos, and enjoy the scenery. The day ends with drop-off at the accommodation in Port Lincoln.

Day 3 Visit to Seal Cove (Hopkins Island), Memory Cove and departure
The day starts at Tulka, a coastal hamlet known for its waders, swans, and sea birds, and the Southern Emu-Wrens. Then, it heads towards the Port Lincoln National Park, where visitors can enjoy the rugged and wild Sleaford Bay, the tranquility of the Spalding Cove area, and other beautiful beaches. The tour follows Captain Matthew Flinders journey through the Wilderness areas, providing an opportunity to view Osprey, White Bellied Sea-Eagles, Kites, and Harriers. The tour also stops at Taylors Landing, where visitors can watch rare Mallee Fowl, Purple-Gaped Honeyeaters, and other bird species, while enjoying lunch. After that, the tour heads to Mikkira Station, a privately owned habitat where visitors can observe wild Koalas, kangaroos, and bush birds, including Port Lincoln Parrots and Scarlet Robins. Finally, the tour concludes with a transfer to the airport for the return flight to Adelaide.
