Tajikistan Ultimate Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival at Dushanbe
Arrival Dushanbe airport. Meet and transfer to hotel for immediate occupancy (Early check-in after 03:00 AM is included). Some rest. Excursion of Dushanbe: Tajikistan United Museum includes the exhibits on history, natural history and art, Buddha in Nirvana is one of the valuable exhibits of museum.
Botanical garden-very beautiful garden with many old trees is the favorite place of Tajiks. Bazaar – an oriental market is the most crowded place in the city Hissar fortress the remains of an XVIII century fortress, occupied until 1924 is located in 30 km west of Dushanbe. Besides the fortress there are two plain Madrassah, one dating from the XVIII century and the other XIX, and beyond them is the mausoleum of XVI century. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 2 Drive from Dushanbe to Kalai-Humb Via Norak-Shurab Pass
After breakfast drive to Kalai Humb village. En route visit Norak water reservoir (called “Tajik Sea”). The highest point of the day trip is Shurab pass (20267m a.s.l). This part of Tajikistan is very beautiful, the mountain range is really impressive – these are the famous Pamir Mountains. One can compare the sights around like the ocean of white and blue mountains. Drive along the natural border – the Pyanj River. Arrival in Kalai Humb. A traveller can see more conservative attitudes of this region in local dressing style and beards, but the hospitality is just as welcoming. Overnight in the guesthouse.

Day 3 Back to Dushanbe Via Khaburabad Pass
After breakfast drive to Dushanbe over high Khaburabad pass Pass (3252m a.s.l) known as Western Pamir Tract. While driving from Kalai Humb to Khaburabad mountain pass, the scenery and the people change again noticeably. The people here are Badakhshanis with their own languages. There are seven different languages used in Tajik Pamirs. Kalaikhum sits on the Panj River, a major tributary of the famous Amu Darya (Oxus) River. The scenery of the tract is stunning beautiful. One can see the picturesque green valley, high mountains, and rivers. Some photo stops to make panoramic views. Arrival in Dushanbe in the evening. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 4 Drive to Iskandarkul Lake
After breakfast trip to high Mountain Lake – Iskanderkul (2 255 m. a. s. l.). It is situated in the famous Fann Mountains. This fabulous area is one of the best places of Central Asia. The road to the lakes goes through Istiklol tunnel (2630m) with amazing panorama views. After arrival to the lake go for a walk along it beaches. This is an amazing place to have a rest. In addition, hike 40 minutes to see a waterfall. Tajikistan takes the second place among the CIS countries for volume of water resources: it has the highest water reserves of all Central Asian countries with more than 1 000 rivers, 2 000 lakes and 8000 glaciers. Day 5 Visiting Khujand
After breakfast drive to Khujand. En route visit Mug Tepa – situated in Ura-Tube is one of the ancient settlements in Tajikistan. It is said the city was found by Cyrus the Great in the north-east boundary of the empire. Khazrati Shoh architectural complex- consists of Khazrati Shoh mausoleum-the grave of brother of Kusam ibn Abbas, Khudayar Valami mausoleum and mosque Namozgoh. There were city cemetery and Madrasah, too. All these buildings belong to XIXth c.
Upon arrival in Khujand, visit Museum of archeology and fortification – in the middle of northern part of the city there is fortress of 7-8th c. The territory of the fortress: 300x200m. The city was surrounded with wall. It was destroyed several times during different conquers and last reconstruction was in XVIII c. The museum was found inside the fortress. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 6 Exploring Khujand
After breakfast excursion of Khujand. Visit: oriental bazaar – Payshanba bazaar, the biggest bazaars of Central Asia is, one of the interesting places in Khodjent attracting people with various sounds and tastes, Shikh Muslihiddin mosque and mausoleum (XVII-XIX cc), Arbob palace named after S. Urunhodlaev (XX c), monument of Lenin, Monument to Khudjandi poet, and Kairakkum water reservoir. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 7 Drive to Penjikent
After breakfast drive to Penjikent via Istaravshan. Upon arrival check-in at the hotel. Excursion of Penjikent. Visit Museum of Rudakiy (as Penjikent is the birthplace of Abu Abdallah Rudakiy- the father of Persian Poetry), ancient Penjikent (ruins of old Sogdian town founded in V century and abandoned in the VIII century by Arabs. Foundations of houses, a citadel with a couple of Zoroastrian fire temples and city bazaar are visible in the excavated ruins), Sarazm ruins (some of the ancient settlement in Central Asia with 5500 years civilization. In 2010 it was added to the list of the Human heritage by UNESCO). Overnight in the hotel.

Day 8 Visit to Haf Kul and return to Penjikent
After breakfast excursion of Haf Kul-Seven lakes (of different colors in mountains of Tajikistan) S 1. Mijgon, 2. Soya, 3. Hushyor, 4. Nophin lakes (2139m.a.l), 5. Khurdak, 6.Marguzor, 7. Hazorchashma lakes (2400m a.s.l.) PM. Drive back to Penjikent. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 9 Return to Dushanbe
After breakfast drive to Dushanbe. Check-in at hotel. Return to Dushanbe and visit Museum of Musical Instruments. The Museum was founded in 1990 on the basis of the private collection of the Tajik artist Gurminj Zavqibekov. The talented actor started his collection in his early youth. Gurminj Museum currently has more than 200 items exhibited from all over Asia, boasting a wide range of mainly stringed and percussion instruments including “setars”, “dutars”, “rubabs”, “tanburs” and “banjos”. Free time at leisure.
