Walking England’s Jurassic Coast Itinerary
Day 1 Start your Hike in Abbotsbury
Today your hiking tour kicks off in Abbotsbury. You’ll drop your bags off in the morning and they’ll be waiting for you in Ferrybridge.
As you walk inland, you’ll go through farmland and forests before turning back towards the coastline. Your path will follow the West Fleet tidal lagoon all the way to Ferrybridge. You may choose to stop for a break in the village of Langton Herring or Charlestown before arriving at Ferrybridge for the night.
Here, enjoy dinner in a quaint local pub.

Day 2 Scenic Walk to Lulworth Cove
After your warm-up walk yesterday, today’s hike will get progressively more challenging as the day goes on. It’ll be well worth the extra effort, as today you’ll be visiting some of the most famous and scenic sites on the South West Coast Path.
You’ll walk to the 16th century Sandsfoot Castle and skirt the town to Nothe Fort, where you can choose to take the bridge or a short ferry ride. Your hike will continue along the coast, past Osmington Mills, Ringstead Bay, and Holworth House. You will eventually see the famous rock arch, known as the Durdle Door, rising ahead of you. You’ll be staying here in Lulworth this evening, so take your time to explore the Dungy Head, Stair Hole, and Lulworth Cove itself.

Day 3 Hike by the Kimmeridge Ledges to Swanage
Your path starts at an active tank and rifle range. Although you can’t walk through when it’s in use, it’s a nice coastal path to take if it’s open. If not, you can take a taxi or public transportation past the ranges to start your hike.
You’ll walk the gently rolling paths along the coastline towards Clavell Tower. Your trail will lead you along the serene Kimmeridge Ledges until it turns inland at Houns-tout Cliff. You will hike past St Alban’s Head and Durleston Head before finally arriving in Swanage for the night.

Day 4 White Chalk Cliffs to Poole
Your walk today will be at a much more relaxing pace, as you only have a few hours until you reach the end of your journey.
Hike up the white chalk cliffs and take in the views of Bournemouth and the Isle of White across the bay. As you slowly walk down towards Studland you can choose to walk along the beach or across the dunes to get to South Haven Point. The ferry will take you from here into Poole, where you’ll spend your last night exploring the town and its beautiful beach.

The train takes approximately 3 hours from London, with a half-hour drive from Weymouth to Abbotsbury.
