Wine Tour of La Rioja by Bike Itinerary
Day 1 Welcome to Logroño
Arrive in Logroño, settling in at your hotel. Feel free to take a walk around town and find a good spot to get your first taste of the local tapas.

Day 2 Laguardia via the Way of Saint James
Begin your boozy biking adventure by riding along the Way of Saint James. This ancient pilgrimage route is the most important in the region and has served travellers and pilgrims for thousands of years. You’ll use it to get to Laguardia, where you can freshen up at your hotel and then head out to explore the medieval streets. There are lots of wineries to visit here, some of the local favourites being El Fabulista or Casa Primicia.

Day 3 Riding the Vineyards
Today will look straight out of a movie. You’ll pedal at your own pace past the countless orderly rows of vineyards rolling over the hills, some very old and some newer. Pass through rural villages, eventually reaching Haro. Two of La Rioja’s finest wineries are here- Viña Tondonia and Muga.

Day 4 Wine Culture Museum Visit
Along the first part of this route, to Briones, the countryside is very flat and still full of vineyards. At Briones it is located the Wine Culture Museum, of Dinastía Vivancos, that is worth a visit. From Briones on you will leave La Rioja of wines to enter a more unknown Rioja, with a landscape that turns to be more Castilian, with cereal fields and just a few vineyards. The finishing point today will be Santo Domingo de la Calzada, a village linked to the Way of Saint James from its origins back in the 11 th Century.

Day 5 Back to La Rioja and Nájera
Rejoin the Way of Saint James this morning, passing pilgrims from all over the world as you cruise up and down the undulating pathway. The vineyards, fields, and Ezcaray Mountains provide an absolutely picturesque view as you re-enter the La Rioja region.
Reach San Millán, take a break here to recharge, and then head east between vineyards to Nájera, your destination for the evening.

Day 6 Riding along the Ebro River
You’ll cross through regions today, riding into Álava towards Elciego. One of the area’s finest wineries, Marqués de Riscal, is here. Fancy a tasting?
Leaving Elciego, follow the Ebro River along a scenic pathway to Logroño. Since it’s your last night, make the most of it in a local restaurant with plenty of great wine and food!
